About Us

Murphy Leather Mfg. Co., Inc. was formed in 1985 providing wholesale distribution of flat leather products for the equine market.  As things progressed, distributorships were expanded, salespeople were added, and the line grew.   In the late 90’s, a local interest in cowboy action shooting arose and a line of holsters and accessories was developed, originally for the wholesale market but soon grew into building custom equipment for the more competitive shooters. 

Murphy Leather Mfg. was introduced to Ol Short Tom and Two Sons in 2006. They soon had us going in the right direction to build the quality custom holsters we build today. Murphy Leather Mfg. Co. became Murphy Custom Gunleather.   Ol Short Tom began to introduce Murphy to shooters who allowed us to build them a quality product, Our “Ol Short Tom” custom holster is a performance-driven design...and it gets the job done. 

There are two people in production here: Dan Mossberger, aka Hognose Dan and Dan Parmenter, aka Persimmon Dan. Every piece is made specifically for a customer.
